A Tribute to Houston the Terrier-ble

Houston and Macy When my son and I saw the two beautiful purebred dogs that were Houston’s parents (one a  sweet calm miniature Schnauzer the other a spunky Scottish Terrier) we couldn’t resist getting one of the adorable puppies! Maddie May-My Faithful Companion

In December 2002, after having to put down my first beagle, Pipper, I uttered the famous last words “I’ll never have another one”…..and I didn’t until May 2003 when Maddie’s picture was featured in the Weekender. She was a beautiful 3 year old tri-color beagle girl and I decided to go and “just look.” Yea, right. As soon as our eyes met, she knew she was going home with me. Goodbye Munchie:  John and Carol Sosnoski

Goodbye Munchie: It is with great sadness that we must say goodbye to our pet, Munchie (aka Munchkin). Our little Jack Russell that we got from TFAWC. She had become ill after the holidays and after a much agonizing discussion between ourselves and our veterinarian we decided to put her to sleep on February  2nd. Her health deteriorated and she didn’t eat for several days, so we decided it was her way of saying that her old body just couldn’t fight any more. Though we only had her for about a year......

Our First Foster Dog - Bo

My husband and I had always considered fostering a dog, but like many other people we had concerns. How would the dog get along with our 2 dogs and cat? And of course the fear of “foster failure”. Last May True Friends told us of the plight of a senior black Lab mix named Bo that was up at the shelter. He was there for awhile and nobody was interested in him. He was about 12 or 13, drooled, and had goopy eyes that required cleaning several times a day. Not too many......
